Flashmobcatwalk 27 July 2006

flashmobcatwalk bulletin
flashmobcatwalk is online now and coming to London on 27 July 2006
What is a flashmob? a flashmob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, and then quickly disperse. They are usually organised with the help of the Internet or other digital communication networks.
What is a catwalk? a catwalk is a narrow, usually elevated platform used by models to demonstrate clothing and accessories during a fashion show.
What is a flashmobcatwalk? flashmobcatwalk fashions the city through a series of events that test and critique the role of the curator and spectator.
flashmobcatwalk believes that art should challenge society, and ask questions without providing solutions; shift understandings without claiming to empower.
Step 1. Before the event – you check us out: flashmobcatwalk invites you, the spectator, to navigate the site in any order of preference/interest and read and respond to what others are saying about what flashmobcatwalk means. You can post a personal comment on what this idea means to you, arrange to meet somebody there, and keep track of where the next event is taking place.
Step 2. During the event – we check you out: the flashmobcatwalk transforms you from ugly spectator to beautiful participant, and leads you down a historical path through the city: an arcade, a tunnel, a street. The event is recorded by any means necessary.
Step 3. After the event – you check you out: flashmobcatwalk invites you, the spectator/participant, to revisit the site, in any order of preference/interest, and post your experiences/pictures/links back onto the blogsite to recruit more members to our army of vigilantes.
