Ow, meh and grr!
Apr. 20th, 2005 06:22 pmI banged my head (quite hard) on my desk yesterday afternoon, which gave me a headache and made me feel a little woozy. No big deal. On the way home I started to feel queasy, so went straight to bed once I got back, and skipped dinner. This morning I still felt dizzy, headachy and sick, but went to work anyway (I'd Really feel I was skiving if I took a day off for a damn headache!). Following grumbles from a concerned mother hen Gavin, I looked up concussion on NHS Direct. "Not that, stop worrying dear", says me. Since I was on there, I thought I'd look up dizziness, to see if there was a quick fix, like "have a good rest". The second result was for head injuries, telling you to call an ambulance if you had a "Lasting headache that gets worse or is still present over six hours after the injury", "Nausea and vomiting several hours after the injury", or "Confusion, feeling lost or dizzy, or difficulty making sense when talking", among other symptoms.
Thinking this was a lot of fuss for a dratted bang on the head, I reluctantly agreed with Gavin to report it to H&S as an accident, and was promptly sent to see the Practice Nurse here in Parliament. She sends me over to St. Thomas' A&E, where I have been from around 3pm until about 10 minutes ago... There was nothing wrong with me and I now feel like I've just wasted two hours in A&E for nothing, not to mention the doctors' and nurses' time too! I really must stop walking and bumping into things, especially with my head!
Bah humbug! *grin*
I am perfectly bloody fine, although obviously still having as much difficulty making sense as usual, but nothing to do with having hit my head.
Oh well, now I can go home at least!
HOME!
FOOD! (nausea mostly gone, than goodness)
BED!

PS Looks like we're going to go for that house in Steeple Claydon! *bounce* POWER SHOWER HERE I COME!!
