The following vacancy at Surrey History Centre, part of Surrey Heritage, is brought to subscribers' attention.
Document Assistant
Salary: £15,384 - £18,030
Location: Surrey History Centre, Woking
Hours: 36 hours per week (including some Saturday working)
Producing historic documents and books to users of the Centre, you will make an important contribution to the Stewardship and Preservation Team within Surrey Heritage. At the same time, you will clean and package new additions to the archive, process local studies material and compile and update records, whilst dealing with a broad range of enquiries from the general public and processing requests for copies of documents.
The position will involve considerable manual handling, and accessing high shelving, so a high level of physical fitness is essential, and you must be able to follow detailed instructions closely and use computer systems. You will join us with a good standard of education, impressive attention to detail and strong craft skills, plus a passion for history and preserving the past that matches our own.
