Cos it got too long....!

I'm a librarian, with rather eclectic tastes. I hate writing things about me, and never know what to write...! Have a look here if you are actually interested, it's kind-of up to date most of the time...

Things I like are:

• Music - goth, rock, folk, metal, ska and jazz
  
• Books - fantasy, sci-fi and, *looks embarrased* historical romances
  
• Costume history - especially 18th-19thC and Mediaeval
  
• Folklore, Legends, Mythology etc. - Russian (especially сказки); English ; Gypsy ; Japanese ; Greek ; Ancient Egypt
  
• Caspar David Friedrich - romantic painter
  
• Clarecraft figurines - especially Discworld - I try to go to CCDE each year...
  
• Neil Gaiman's Sandman, and the associated characters, especially Lucifer.
  
• Wolverine (particularly when he looks like Hugh Jackman...!)
  
• Angel and Buffy, although I'm only at series 4 so far, so DON'T GIVE IT AWAY!! *grin*
  
• Places: Romania (Costanța, Transylvania), Russia (St. Petersburg/Питер, Yaroslavl - I lived in Russia during my degree), Whitby, York, Guildford (home!), Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset - Mendips, France (Toulouse, Royan). One of my favourite sites is St. Botolph's Priory in Colchester, which I think is beautiful!

• Archaeology: I did A Level archaeology at evening classes a few years back, although I didn't sit the exam. I did my project on a local cemetery...
  
• Body art: I have a number of piercings, mostly facial, and I'd like to get a tattoo someday, but I don't know what yet.
  
• Comics: hmm currently reading: Wolverine, Vampire: Masquerade, Werewolf, Gloom Cookie, Nightmares and Fairy Tales, Springheeled Jack...
  
• Dyslexia: well, not really, I just have it...!
  
• Egypt - got into the mythology as a small kid going to the British Museum with my parents
  
• Erotica and fetishism
  
• Etymology - the history of words, especially names
  
• Eyes: Brown or green or blue, doesn't matter, but eyes fascinate me...
  
• Genealogy: have been sort-of working on my family tree for quite a few years now, and I'm producing what began as a tree of all the LR characters, but is fast becoming a genealogy of most of the nobility of mediaeval Europe
  
• Geology - I like stones, my favourites are granite and rose quartz. I am fascinated by Volcanoes and similar awe inspiring natural phenomena.
  
• Herbs - I grow my own now (and some are still alive!). I try to grow mediaeval and modern ones, and I'm interested in herbal medicine, although I am also a little wary of it (mainly because I'm growing them!).
  
• History - pre-Petrine and 17th-19th C Russia ; Medieval to Tudor, then 18th&19thC British ; 19thC Europe; and the French and Russian Revolutions.
  
• Languages - I can speak, with varying degrees of competency, Russian, French, Latin, Italian, smattering of Romanian.
  
• Learning and research - учиться особено фольклора, истории, и языки - тепер немецкий язык.
  
• Animals - Magpies and wolves (and my cat...) ; Финист, Жар-птица.
  
• Weather - Rain, Thunder and lightning, Snow, Rainbows (снег, снег, снег...)
  
• Re-enactment (историческая реконструкция) - for the costumes, the atmosphere, everything...!
  
• Чехов - любимый русский авторб и послье негоб Гоголь...
  
• Shadowcat - who I am informed I am like...

• Web design - I think I'm not that good at it, but still enjoy it. Mad enough to prefer raw code to any other style... Currently commissioned to write a professional site!
  
• Oscar Wilde - no partcular reason why, just been fascinated by him since childhood, and love his writings
